In order for these goals to be measurable, we need to call upon a starting point. We began documenting and tracking our sustainability journey in 2005, and we have already made significant progress since then. We are aiming to reduce our carbon emissions across our entire business. We will do this by tackling the following factors:

At the farms
- Feed management
- Manure management
- Reduction of antibiotics
- Renewable energy sources
At the production sites
- Reduction of plastic usage
- Reduction of energy and water usage
- No waste philosophy
- Transport efficiencies

Our Certified Farmers
Together with our farmers, we have introduced an official Sustainability Certification Programme, which we have invited all of our suppliers to be a part of. Since 2019, at least 90% of Danish Crown pig farms are Sustainability Certified. Farmers in the programme are responsible for measuring their success based on the following criteria;
- Manure management
- Reduced use of antibiotics
- Sustainable feed
- Animal Welfare
- Innovation and new technology
